From the last drawings of Peter Capaldi and David Tennant as their doctor who characters, I moved into a more comic style type of fanart. I decided to use my favourite streamers/Gamers/Content creators such as Jacksepticeye Sykkuno, I thought the style was fitting considering the genre of the internet they are in. I started by choosing the size I wanted to sketch out which is A2 and I used a standard mountboard base, this helped to keep the pens I used from soaking through once I began to layer them.
I searched the internet for images I associated with the streamers and settled on a variety of images and game avatars from the popular video game among us!
The above slideshow contains the reference images I used when sketching out the initial drawing, they are Jacksepticeye/spedicey in among us and his official youtube logo he has created.
The initial sketch made me want to go down the graphite route as it looked so much like him but I pushed myself to steer away from that style and stick with the comic style, I first used a variety of fineliners to create the lines I wished to keep. Jacksepticeye uses a lot of green in his channel the go alongside the eyeball and so I decided it was fitting to use enought green to show that without going overboard.
I used Pro Markers for the colouring which I have never used, I blended and blended with various colours to create the look I wanted, Jacksepticeye is such a loud and fun person on stream who also has a serious side when it comes to protecting his image and his fans and I feel it's captured well enough. I enjoyed this that I moved onto Sykkuno but I wanted to try something a little different.
I enjoyed working with the pro markers but I will admit I missed using the graphite so I thought to myself why not try and mix them both and see what happens.
I again started with a basic outsline sketch, I mean where else am I supposed to start, anyways I then decided I wanted to do the face in graphite and add colour around the areas that highlight the fanart section of the image.
I again like within the Jacksepticeye piece used items that are associated with the streamer such as the scarf, the leaf above his head, the soft flowers and his among us avatar.
The colours are apart of his streamer set up and so I felt the green was appropriate , he doesn't wear alot of dark colours so I didn't feel a dark hoodie would fit well and I felt if I coloured it with green I would lose the whole avatar look I was aiming for so I opted for a sky blue.
I find I really like the contrast of graphite and colours and so I plan on experimenting with this method more within this project.
