What is a live project? P2

Updated: Jan 4, 2021

To me a live project is something a person or a collective of people are working on, be it a piece of art or an exhibition.

Does it have to be a moving piece to be considered 'live?' absolutely not! We look at art with our eyes, we converse with others about why we like something or why we do not and how something makes us feel, our brain takes mental pictures so we can remember that feeling, our skin breathes in reaction to those memories everytime and to me that's as live as it gets!

I like many other artists dream of putting on a show of our own in a big gallery like the Tate Modern in London, the Guggenheim in New York or even the Centre Pompidou in Paris (be still my beating heart), but for now we must start small.

Finding a gallery to showcase our work can be tough, we ask ourselves a million questions and find we have more self doubt then we believed was possible or at least I know this to be the case for myself, therefore until I develop the necessary skills needed to approach even local galleries I will happily begin within Sunderland Universities Shaun Project space as well as virtual within my own social media platforms (available in the links on this blog).

I can use the resources available I have within my studio space like umbrella lights, frames, easels, plinths and a variety of stands to help me get an idea of how my work would look in various areas, this helps to lower the cost of independent galleries for now.

In the hopefully near future I would however love to be able to put on a show in my local galleries such as:

The Globe Gallery

Castle Fine Art

Baltic 39

Newcastle Art Centre

The Biscuit Factory

Vane Art Gallery

The North East Art Collective

So Keep your eyes peeled because we never know where our art will take us, It's a journey I look forward to partaking in.
