Umberto Boccioni

Umberto Boccioni is an historical artist who practiced during the years 1897 - 1916 where he passed away at just 33.

His work was described as part of the futurism movement.

His charcoal and portraits have inspired me over the years as he started out paining and drawing what he knew, the people who surrounded him before moving on to develop a surreal outlook of the human form.

His work moved and developed from a tradition form of portraits into sculpture of distorted proportions which I find truly inspiring, proving that as an artist is is perfectly normal if not needed to explore as many subjects with art.

I particularly feel drawn in by his monochrome paintings of the female form with its ties to cubism and distorted appearance but having the sense of strong dark emotions he felt when creating pieces of lost loved ones.
